Dum Spiro, Spero

About half a year ago my brother told me he wanted to get a tattoo. He claimed he already knew what he wanted and mostly was asking me to pay for it.

At first I thought it was more of a whim, so I joked about it, but the more we talked about it the more I realized he was being serious. He already knew what he wanted: a simple motto. He explained that it reminded him of our parents. At that moment I knew he was going to get it eventually, so I told him to wait a year. I advised him to think about exactly where he wanted it, what font, and if in a year or so he still wanted it to get it. Of course he only half listened, as good younger brother always should I suppose. Therefore, to my surprise, last week he showed me his latest acquisition: "Dum Spiro, Spero" (While I breath, I hope).
